REGION centre val de loirE
About "LOIRE" Over more than 500 km, corresponding to the large curve described in the south of the Paris Basin, it is an intensely developed strip (greengrocers, flowers, nurseries, vineyards on the hillsides), dotted with towns (Nevers, Orléans, Tours ) and also today nuclear power plants (Belleville-sur-Loire, Dampierre-en-Burly, Saint-Laurent-des-Eaux, Avoine). The name Val de Loire was chosen for a territory inscribed by UNESCO on the World Heritage list, as an exceptional cultural landscape along a major river. It extends over 280 km in length, uninterrupted from Sully-sur-Loire, in Loiret, to Chalonnes, in Maine-et-Loire and covers 800 km2. It concerns two regions, the Center, for the departments of Loiret, Loir-et Cher and Indre-et-Loire and the Pays de la Loire, for Maine-et-Loire. The Val de Loire Mission is the organization responsible for promoting the development of the site, while respecting its integrity and authenticity. |
