REGION nouvelle Aquitaine
About Nouvelle-Aquitaine Listen is a French administrative region, created by the territorial reform of 2015 and effective on January 1, 2016, after the regional elections of December 2015. Resulting from the merger of the former regions Aquitaine, Limousin and Poitou-Charentes, it was initially called Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou-Charentes. It brings together twelve departments, extends over 84,036 km2 (i.e. one eighth of the national territory) and has 6,033,952 inhabitants (municipal population as of January 1, 2020)3. The History A brief history of the city of Bordeaux It was not until the beginning of the 12th century that the boom really began, in particular thanks to the wine trade when the city was under the control of the Kingdom of England. In 1453, the Franks retook the city, before developing it over the centuries that followed. The history of Bordeaux is very rich and makes it one of the great cities in France where life is good. At the crossroads of the Landes and the Atlantic, what we call the “World Wine Capital” welcomes many tourists from all over the world. A true starting point for the Aquitaine Wine and Châteaux Route, Bordeaux is one of the favorite destinations for wine tourism enthusiasts in France. |
